Frequently Asked Questions
Greyscalegorilla & Cargo Integration
What is happening to Greyscalegorilla Plus, Studio, and the HUB?
To provide a more streamlined, powerful experience, the Greyscalegorilla Library has officially moved to Cargo.
New Greyscalegorilla subscriptions are now exclusively offered through Cargo, providing direct access to our massive library of HDRIs, Textures, Materials, Gobos, and Plugins.
As we focus our efforts on building the best experience in Cargo, we have discontinued updates and no longer offer support for our legacy platforms (Greyscalegorilla Studio and the HUB).
Standalone Plus subscriptions are no longer available for new purchase.
Cinema 4D: Mac + Windows
Blender: Mac + Windows
Unreal Engine: Mac + Windows
Houdini: Mac + Windows
Maya: Mac + Windows
3ds Max: Windows only
I am an existing Plus subscriber. What happens to my access?
Donāt worry, nothing changes for you right now! If you have an active Greyscalegorilla Plus subscription, you can continue to use Greyscalegorilla Studio and the HUB just as you always have. Your current workflow remains fully supported.
And, your Plus subscription provides access to everything in the Greyscalegorilla Library through Cargo, including expanded DCC compatibility. Just install Cargo and connect your supported 3D software
What is included in the new Cargo-based Greyscalegorilla Library?
By accessing the Greyscalegorilla Library through Cargo, you get the best of both worlds in one unified Combined Library:
Complete Material & Texture Libraries: High-resolution, production-ready surfaces.
HDRI & Lighting Presets: Professional lighting environments.
Gobo Collection: Creative light patterns for any scene.
Universal Compatibility: All assets have been reprocessed into the USD format, ensuring they work seamlessly across Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D, Houdini, and Unreal Engine.
NOTICE: Plugins are here!
Greyscalegorilla and Everything Bundle subscribers can now browse, install, and update our most popular tools directly through the new Tool page in Cargo. Currently, available tools are built for Cinema 4D, with support for other 3D software actively in the works.
Can I still use the Greyscalegorilla plugins?
Yes! Greyscalegorilla plugins are now available directly in Cargo.
New Greyscalegorilla and Everything Bundle subscriptions include access to the Tool page, where you can easily browse, install, and update plugins and scripts right inside the Cargo interface. At this time, all available tools are built for Cinema 4D, but support for other DCCs is on the way.
If you are an existing Plus subscriber using the HUB: Your current workflow remains fully supported! If your setup is working perfectly, nothing is forcing you to change.
However, if you are ready to install new tools or want to manage your existing plugins (like Light Kit Pro or Signal) directly through Cargo, you will simply need to remove your HUB folder so Cargo can take over the licensing.
Why the move to Cargo?
The move to Cargo allows us to offer much deeper integration and faster workflows. With features like Smart Search (searching by "emotion" or "intent") and Image Search, finding the perfect material or HDRI is faster than ever. Plus, the USD-native workflow means your assets will look and perform beautifully across almost any 3D software.
Purchases and Renewals
I just purchased a Greyscalegorilla Library subscription and it still says I don't have an active subscription in Studio/HUB
If you recently purchased a new Greyscalegorilla subscription, all of your tools, plugins, and assets are now delivered exclusively through Cargo!
To provide the most streamlined and powerful workflow possible, we are focusing all of our development on Cargo. Because of this, new subscriptions are only offered and managed via Cargo. We have officially discontinued updates and support for our legacy platforms (Studio and the HUB), meaning new subscriptions will not activate on those older platforms.
Simply download and install Cargo to dive right into your new library!
My OTOY coupon code says invalid when I try to use it.
The OTOY coupon for 2025 has expired. We are unable to redeem the 2025 OTOY codes for a free subscription to Plus.
I need a refund on my subscription renewal.
Our policy is that we do not refund monthly Plus subscriptions or annual Plus renewals.
Our 30-day refund policy only applies to new annual subscriptions. However, if you have an annual subscription that has renewed and you email us within 72 hours of the transaction, we will consider a refund.
Legacy Studio and HUB Support
My Light Kit Pro isn't working correctly.
We pushed an update to the Light Kit Pro plugin recently. Please go to the preference->At the bottom of the preferences window, click "open preferences folder">plugins> Greyscalegorila...then delete the Light Kit Pro folder. It will then be available for download again in the HUB with the updated version.
Some Troubleshooting tips if Studio/Connectors are generating error messages when connecting or sending materials to your 3D software:
Make sure that you are using the latest version of Studio (1.5.1) and connectors (1.5.3 or 1.5.4)
Please double-check to make sure that you have Studio and the connector installed in the appropriate folders. (instructions here)
Go to Edit>Preferences>Greyscalegorilla>Studio and make sure you have checked the appropriate boxes on how you would like materials to be imported and stored in C4D
For some users, you may need to update your computer's permissions settings to allow the plugin to function correctly
Note: If you have already migrated to Cargo to manage your plugins, you do not need the HUB. You can simply uninstall and reinstall Light Kit Pro directly from the Tools page inside Cargo.
Does Studio support Unreal Engine 5.7?
Yes, but only on Windows. Make sure that you are using Connecter v1.5.4.
