How to Install Tools Through Cargo
Before You Start
Have you used the Hub before?
If you haven't, you're ready to jump straight to the installation steps below.
If you have existing plugins installed through the Hub and your setup is working well, there's nothing you need to do. Your plugins keep right on working.
If you'd like to install new or additional tools through Cargo, you'll want to remove the Hub folder first. It's a quick step that lets Cargo take over licensing for everything you install from here on. See How to Remove the Hub Folder for instructions, then come back here.
What You'll Need
A Greyscalegorilla or Everything Bundle subscription
Cargo installed. If you haven't grabbed it yet, download it at greyscalegorilla.com/cargo and sign in with your GSG account.
Cinema 4D 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026
Each tool has its own compatibility details. Not every tool supports every Cinema 4D version in that range, and renderer support varies. Click Learn More on any tool card to check what works with your setup before installing.
Installation Steps
Open Cargo.
Close Cinema 4D if it's open.
Click the Connector icon in the lower-left corner of Cargo.
Select Connect Software, choose Cinema 4D, then select your version. Cinema 4D 2023 and above are supported.
Click Install Connector.
Open Cinema 4D. This activates your license.
Head back to Cargo and go to the Tool page.
Click Install on anything you want to add.
Restart Cinema 4D. Your tools will be ready to use.
Already have the Connector set up? If you've previously connected Cargo to Cinema 4D for sending assets, you're already good. The same Connector handles tool installation too. Skip ahead to step 7.
Troubleshooting
A tool installed but isn't showing up in Cinema 4D.
Give Cinema 4D a full restart. Tools need a fresh launch to appear in the UI. That usually does it.
Still not showing up after a restart.
Close both Cargo and Cinema 4D. In Cinema 4D, go to Edit > Preferences > Open Preferences Folder, find the folder for that specific tool, and delete it. Then reinstall through Cargo and restart Cinema 4D. If you're still having trouble, reach out to support and we'll get it sorted.
I have a KitBash subscription. Can I install tools?
Tools are included with Greyscalegorilla and Everything Bundle subscriptions. If you're on a KitBash plan, you can browse everything on the Tool page. Each tool card will show an Upgrade to Access option if you'd like to unlock them.
I'm on an older version of Cinema 4D. Can I still use tools?
The Cargo Tool page works with Cinema 4D 2023 through 2026. Upgrading Cinema 4D will give you access to everything on the Tool page.
A tool installed but isn't working with my renderer.
Renderer support varies by tool. Click Learn More on the tool card in Cargo to see exactly which renderers are supported for that tool.
