Access and Subscriptions

What is the Tool page?

The Tool page is where Greyscalegorilla and Everything Bundle subscribers can browse, install, and update their plugins and scripts directly through Cargo. It's right there in the left sidebar nav. Right now all available tools and scripts are built for Cinema 4D, and support for other DCCs is on the way.

Who has access to tools?

Tools are included with Greyscalegorilla and Everything Bundle subscriptions. If you're on either of those tiers, everything on the Tool page is yours to install.

I have a KitBash3D Library subscription. Can I access tools?

You can browse the Tool page and see everything that's available. To install, you'd need to be on a Greyscalegorilla or Everything Bundle subscription. Each tool card will show an Upgrade to Access option if you're ready to make the jump.

I have a Greyscalegorilla Teams subscription. Where do I get my tools?

Greyscalegorilla Teams runs on a separate enterprise setup, and the Cargo Tool page isn't part of that experience right now. Teams customers continue using the Hub as usual. Nothing is changing on your end. If you have any questions about your team's setup, reach out to support and we'll help you out.

I don't see the Tool page in Cargo.

Make sure you're signed into Cargo with the account tied to your subscription. The Tool page shows up in the left sidebar nav for all Cargo users. If it's not showing up, try signing out and back in. Still not there? Contact support and we'll take a look.

I just upgraded my subscription. When do I get access to tools?

Access should kick in right away once your upgrade is processed. Try signing out of Cargo and back in to refresh things. If tools are still showing as locked, contact support and we'll sort it out.

I downgraded from a Greyscalegorilla or Everything Bundle subscription to KitBash. What happens to my installed tools?

Your installed tools need an active Greyscalegorilla or Everything Bundle subscription to keep running. If you re-upgrade down the road, everything comes right back.

Installation

How do I install tools?

Check out How to Install Tools Through Cargo for the full walkthrough. The short version: install the Connector once to link Cargo to Cinema 4D, click Install on any tool from the Tool page, and give Cinema 4D a restart.

Do I need to install the Connector just for tools?

The Connector is a setup you do once to connect Cargo to your Cinema 4D installation. It handles both asset delivery and tool installation, so you only ever need to set it up once.

I already use the Connector to send assets from Cargo to Cinema 4D. Do I need to set it up again for tools?

Nope, you're already good. The same Connector handles tools too. Just head to the Tool page and start installing.

What Cinema 4D versions are supported?

Cinema 4D 2023 through 2026 are supported.

Do all tools support every Cinema 4D version in that range?

Each tool has its own compatibility details. Click Learn More on any tool card to see which specific Cinema 4D versions and renderers it supports before installing.

What renderers are supported?

Renderer support varies by tool. Click Learn More on the tool card to check compatibility with your renderer.

Do tools work on both Mac and Windows?

Yes. Click Learn More on the tool card for any platform-specific details.

Can I install more than one tool at a time?

Absolutely. Click Install on as many tools as you like, then restart Cinema 4D once when you're done to get everything up and running.

Do I need to restart Cinema 4D every time I install a tool?

Yes, a restart is needed for newly installed tools to show up in the Cinema 4D UI. If you're installing several tools at once, just restart once at the end.

I clicked Install but nothing seemed to happen. Did it work?

Close and reopen Cargo, then check the Installed tab on the Tool page to confirm. If the tool isn't showing there, give it another try. Still having trouble? Reach out to support.

The Hub and Migration

I already have plugins installed through the Hub. Do I need to do anything?

It depends on your subscription. If you're on a GSG Plus plan, you're all set. Your plugins keep working exactly as they always have. If you're on a KitBash subscription and have a previous Hub installation, you'll want to remove the Hub folder so your plugins can be licensed through Cargo and the Connector. See How to Remove the Hub Folder.

I have a GSG Plus subscription with Hub installs. Do I need to remove the Hub folder?

Only if you want to install new or additional tools through Cargo. If your current setup is working great and you're not adding anything, there's nothing to do. When you're ready to grab something new, How to Remove the Hub Folder walks you through it.

I have a KitBash subscription with Hub installs. What do I need to do?

You'll want to remove the Hub folder so your plugins can be licensed through Cargo and the Connector. It's a quick step. See How to Remove the Hub Folder for the walkthrough.

Why does the Hub folder need to be removed? Can I just leave it?

When the Hub folder is present, plugins look to the Hub for their license. Removing it lets Cargo step in and handle licensing instead. If your current setup is working and you're not making any changes, leaving it alone is completely fine.

If I remove the Hub folder, will I lose my existing plugins?

Your plugin files stay right where they are. Only the Hub folder itself is removed. Once it's gone and the Connector is set up, Cargo takes over and everything keeps working.

I removed the Hub folder and now my plugins have stopped working.

A quick reinstall through Cargo will get everything back up. Head to the Tool page, click Install on each tool you want, and restart Cinema 4D. See How to Install Tools Through Cargo for the full steps.

Is the Hub going away?

The Hub is no longer available to download. If you have it installed and your current setup is working well, nothing is forcing you to change. When you're ready to start installing new tools through Cargo, How to Remove the Hub Folder is where to start.

I changed subscription tiers recently. Do I need to do anything with the Hub folder?

If you moved from a GSG Plus to a KitBash subscription and have Hub installs, you'll want to remove the Hub folder so Cargo can handle your licensing. See How to Remove the Hub Folder.

Updates

How do I update a tool?

When an update is available, an Update button will appear on the tool card in Cargo. Click it to grab the latest version, then restart Cinema 4D.

What happens when I update a tool that was originally installed through the Hub?

Cargo will replace the Hub-installed version with one it manages. Your workflow stays exactly the same.

Can I stay on an older version of a tool?

When an update is available, Cargo will show an Update button on the tool card. Updating is your call. Older versions aren't available to install separately, but nothing updates automatically.

How will I know when updates are available?

Updates show up right on the tool card in Cargo. Keep an eye on the Installed tab to see if anything has a pending update.

Deprecated Tools

What happened to Transform?

Transform has been retired and won't be available on the Cargo Tool page. We know some folks used it and we appreciate that. If you have questions or want to share feedback, reach out to support. We're always listening.

What happened to Super Text?

Super Text has been retired and won't be available on the Cargo Tool page. If you have questions, reach out to support.

What happened to HDRI Studio?

HDRI Studio isn't part of the Cargo Tool page rollout. If you have questions about your workflow without it, support is happy to help.

What happened to the Plus Library?

The Plus Library was the Cinema 4D-native version of the Greyscalegorilla asset library. Cargo brings all of that and more into one place, so it's been replaced by what's already in the app.

I relied on one of these tools. Is there anything I can do?

Reach out to support and let us know how you were using it. That kind of feedback genuinely helps inform what we build next.

The Tool Page UI

What are the All and Installed tabs?

All shows the complete tool catalog. Installed shows every tool you have set up, whether you installed it through Cargo or the Hub.

The search bar, filters, and sorting don't seem to be working.

Those features are visible in the UI right now but aren't active yet. They're coming in a future update. In the meantime, scrolling through the All tab is the best way to browse everything that's available.

Troubleshooting

A tool installed but isn't showing up in Cinema 4D.

Give Cinema 4D a full restart. Tools need a fresh launch to show up in the UI. That usually takes care of it right away.

Still not showing up after a restart.

Close both Cargo and Cinema 4D. In Cinema 4D, go to Edit > Preferences > Open Preferences Folder, find the folder for that specific tool, and delete it. Reinstall through Cargo, then restart Cinema 4D. If you're still running into trouble, reach out to support and we'll help you get it sorted.

A tool installed but isn't working with my renderer.

Renderer support varies by tool. Click Learn More on the tool card in Cargo to see exactly which renderers are supported. If your renderer is listed and the tool still isn't behaving, contact support.

I'm getting a licensing error after installing a tool.

This can happen if the Hub folder is still present in your Greyscalegorilla Preferences Plugins folder. See How to Remove the Hub Folder, then reinstall the tool through Cargo.

I can see a tool on the Tool page but the Install button isn't available.

Try signing out of Cargo and back in to refresh your subscription access. If things still look off, check that your subscription is active and contact support. We'll get it sorted.

I installed a tool but it shows as not installed on the Tool page.

Try closing and reopening Cargo to refresh the UI. If it still looks off but the tool is showing up in Cinema 4D, you're likely good and the display just needs a moment to catch up. If neither Cargo nor Cinema 4D reflects the install, try reinstalling the tool.

I can't find a specific tool on the Tool page.

Browse through the All tab to see everything that's available. Keep in mind that search and filtering aren't active yet, so scrolling is the way to go for now. If a tool you're expecting to see isn't there, it may be coming in a future update. Reach out to support if you have questions about a specific tool.

HDRI Link isn't showing up on the Tool page.

HDRI Link's alt-click support lets you browse and swap HDRIs from the Cargo library inside Cinema 4D. If it's not showing on the Tool page yet, it'll be available in an upcoming update.

Will tools and scripts be available for other DCCs like Blender or Houdini?

Yes, that's exactly where we're headed. Everything on the Tool page right now is built for Cinema 4D, and support for other DCCs is actively in the works. We're not announcing specific timelines just yet, but this is coming.

Still running into trouble? Reach out to support and we'll get it sorted.
