How to Use Area Light Maps in Unreal Engine

Learn how to use Greyscalegorilla Area Light Maps in Unreal Engine to create realistic lighting and reflections using Rect Lights.

  1. Start Greyscalegorilla Studio and download any Area Light Map texture you would like to use.

2. Click and drag the downloaded Area Light Map thumbnail from Greyscalegorilla Studio user-interface to the Unreal Engine Content Browser.

3. Click "Quickly add to Project" button and select Lights > Rect Light from the menu.

4. After adding you will see it on The Outliner. Now you can drag and drop the Area Light texture file to Source Texture slot.

5. Your Rect Light reflection will be updated.
