How do I uninstall the HUB (plugins & scripts) ?

Written by Steven Chen

This article is for ending a Greyscalegorilla Plus subscription. It removes the Hub, your Greyscalegorilla plugins, your scripts and your assets.

If you are switching your licensing over to Cargo and want to keep using your plugins, this is not the article you want — it will remove a working setup. Use How to Remove the Hub Folder instead, which removes only the Hub folder and leaves your installed plugins exactly where they are.

There are three components that need to be uninstalled if you are ending your subscription to Greyscalegorilla Plus:

  • The HUB plugin

  • The Greyscalegorilla plugins folder

  • The Greyscalegorilla scripts folder

  • The Greyscalegorilla Assets folder

Removing the Greyscalegorilla Assets folder:

Skip this step if you may reopen an older project. Any Cinema 4D scene that used these materials points at these exact files, so deleting them leaves those scenes with broken material paths. Cargo cannot restore them — those files were never part of a Cargo library.

You can also skip this step if you plan on renewing your Plus membership in the future. The assets will remain on your system, but you won't be able to use them until you renew.

  1. Go to Edit>Preferences and navigate to the Greyscalegorilla section.

  2. The folder you've designated to the Greyscalegorilla Assets folder is displayed here.

3. Navigate to the location of that folder and delete it.

Removing the HUB plugin and Greyscalegorilla Plugins:

  1. Go to Edit>Preferences and click 'Open Preferences Folder...'.

  2. After you access the folder shut down Cinema 4D.

  3. In the open folder, navigate to the plugin folder.

  4. Delete two folders; "Greyscalegorilla" folder and the HUB plugin folder "win_r2x_greyscalegorillahub" (It will be named differently depending on your OS and version number, eg. "osx_r2x_greyscalegorillahub" if you are MacOS user.

  5. If you want to remove specific plugins, go inside "Greyscalegorilla" folder and delete the related plugin folders one by one.

Removing the scripts:

  1. To remove any GSG scripts go inside scripts folder and delete the related script folders.

    "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Maxon Cinema 4D 2024_xxxxxxxx\library\scripts"

  2. Then you can launch Cinema 4D.
